Coconut Oil and Saturated Fats

by MBadmin on October 14, 2008

Did you know that Coconut Oil is one of the healthiest foods -not to mention oils– that you can eat? Until recently, many people believed that it was not healthy because it is high in saturated fats. However, many researchers, such as Weston Price, have found that traditional societies that consume high levels of saturated fat have far lower levels of the diseases that plague modern people, such as heart disease.

Coconut oil provides medium-chain fatty acids, which are easily absorbed by the body –and converted to energy. This means that coconut oil boosts your metabolism, making it an excellent choice for people who want to lose weight.

You can use Coconut Oil for cooking. It is also available in supplement form. In addition to taking it internally, people have long used it for the skin and hair.

Another word about saturated fats. These are also found in animal products. The problem with most animal products, meat, eggs and dairy, is that they are filled with hormones and antibiotics and other artificial ingredients. So if you eat animal products, you are better off trying to get organic or those produced locally on small farms (depending where you live).

Coconut Oil is probably the healthiest oil to cook with. As
Joseph Mercola points out, olive oil is healthy when eaten raw, but is not good to cook with.
