No time to exercise? That’s a common complaint…or is it just an excuse? According to columnist Chrisanna Northrup, it’s the latter.
“It’s not about not having the time or even finding the time to exercise, it’s about how people choose to spend their time. People would rather browse the Internet than exercise.”
“Not Enough Time To Exercise” Is Just An Excuse
There’s no denying that it can be challenging to find time to exercise nowadays. Between jobs, families, classes, children, pets, and errands, it can certainly seem like a difficult problem. On the other hand, when you consider how important it can be for your health and well being, it may be a question of setting your priorities.
This isn’t to say that you should quit your job or neglect your children or spouse so you can work out more! But, as the article above points out, most of us have non-essential activities that could be replaced with a little exercise. Remember, exercise isn’t just good to help you lose weight, it boosts your emotional state as well.
Here are a few tips to find more time to exercise:
*** Go to bed earlier, get up 20 minutes early and exercise first thing!
*** Watch less TV -if you’re a hopeless TV addict, exercise in front of the TV!
*** Sneak in some power walking at work -scheduled or unscheduled breaks, lunch, maybe even walk or bicycle to or from work if that’s practical.
*** Schedule some fun outdoor activities for the weekend, either on your own, with a partner or the whole family.
*** Take up a sport or activity you loved as a kid -it could be jumping rope, trampoline (you could get a mini trampoline), hoola hoop (great exercise!), dance, or your favorite racket sport. You’ll want to do it, because it’s fun!
