These hypnosis weight loss tips are not based on anything magical or esoteric. Hypnosis simply means that you can access the subconscious mind -areas that you may not be aware of that can cause blocks in your thoughts and behavior.
For example, when it comes to losing weight you probably want to eat fewer calories and a healthier diet and exercise more. But you may have subconscious blocks to this. This can take the form of beliefs, such as “I feel deprived when I don’t eat double portions of dessert!” or “exercise is no fun.”
The objective of hypnosis is to change or reverse such beliefs and change them to ones that work in your favor. You can use hypnosis by consulting with a hypnotherapist. However, you can also use self-hypnosis, or use a tape or downloaded program with guided visualization.
For now, let’s assume that you are working alone with no technology at all. You may, however, want to play some relaxing music in the background before you do this simple exercise. You can also enhance the environment by burning some pleasant smelling incense, aromatherapy candle or essential oil.
Sit or lie back and relax. Take ten deep, slow breaths. The best way to breathe for relaxation is to hold the breath for a few seconds -only as long as it’s comfortable- and then gently exhale through the mouth.
Imagine yourself in an environment that you find very pleasing and relaxing, such as a meadow, forest or beach. It can be anywhere, though; maybe you prefer imagining you are in the penthouse of a luxury apartment in Paris or floating on a magic carpet somewhere!
Next count very slowly to yourself, starting at ten and ending at one. With each count, feel yourself relaxing even more and letting go of any stress or tension. Don’t worry if you have thoughts in your mind. Simply let any thoughts and feelings drift through your awareness and let them go when they are ready to.
Now imagine yourself feeling healthy, vibrant and perfect in every way. This includes being at your ideal weight. Imagine looking at yourself in a mirror and seeing a reflection of the way you want to look. Don’t worry if you don’t visualize perfectly. Just use your imagination and feel that you are at your ideal weight.
Now count back up from one to ten, this time feeling yourself returning to a fully conscious state.
Don’t do this for too long. In the beginning, five to ten minutes in plenty. The idea is to get into as relaxed a state as possible without putting any pressure on yourself to “get it right.” This should not feel like work or exercise.
Try this visualization at night before going to sleep. You can also do it early in the morning if you have time, or any time of day that you can spare a few minutes.
This is a very simple self-hypnosis exercise, but if you do it consistently it can be very helpful. Naturally, you can also use if for other issues as well, or simply to relax.
